Research: How to Make a Short Film

Today I will be continuing my research by watching a video on how to make a short film! The video will give a guide on the filmmaking journey from start to finish. Now, I will share my key takeaways and how I will apply them during my project! 

Overall I found the video very useful. It covered both technical and creative aspects when it comes to making a short film. It emphasized the importance on focusing on one main concept, instead of trying to cram a ton into the short. I will use this in my process by not overcomplicating anything! 

Another takeaway from the video was the importance of scriptwriting and planning. It explained how screenplay forms the foundation of the film and the script is important to both creative and logical sides of filmmaking. I will use this in a similar way to how I did for my tasks last year, however now I truly understand the importance. With that, please be tuned for my planning and storyboard blogs. 

For production, the video gave advice on the importance of budgeting, crew, and equipment. It also explained how the tools used do not define the quality of the final project, which is good because I will be filming on my phone. So, instead of overextending, I will work with what I have for my project! 

My final major takeaway is the importance of flexibility during the filming process. Although planning is important, there will often be unplanned challenges that I must adapt to. I experienced this last year a ton, so now I will be extra adaptable. This flexibility will hopefully contribute to the success of my short film! 

After watching that video, I feel much more prepared for this project. I am super duper excited to continue this short-film process. I hope you guys enjoyed. Bye!
