Today I will be discussing where and how we will select clothes for our short. Hope you enjoy!

Costuming plays a crucial role in defining each character’s personality and story arc, so I put a lot of thought into the outfits for Riley, Amane, and Lara. For Riley, we wanted something that reflects her role as a babysitter—casual, comfortable, and approachable. We found the perfect pieces at a local boutique, where we picked up a soft, pastel-colored sweater paired with jeans, which will allow her to move freely while still maintaining a warm, welcoming look. The subtle patterns and colors emphasize Riley’s nurturing nature, making her appear trustworthy and reliable. A pair of stylish sneakers completes the look, blending functionality with fashion.

Amane’s costume is designed to contrast sharply with Riley’s, helping emphasize her darker, more sinister character. We chose deep blacks and deep purples to evoke mystery and menace, signaling that she is not someone to be underestimated. Amane’s ensemble includes a long, dark jacket that flows dramatically as she moves, paired with sleek, dark boots that add to her intimidating presence. The makeup is minimal but striking, with bold eyeshadow and dark lipstick, which further enhances her otherworldly aura. We found most of these pieces in vintage stores, focusing on items that exude a timeless, almost eerie quality.

For Lara, the little girl in the film, we wanted her costume to capture the essence of childhood innocence and playfulness. She will wear a cute, colorful dress with floral patterns, creating a sense of joy and youthful energy. We found the dress at a children’s store, where it was perfectly suited for a character of her age and spirit. Lara’s outfit is completed with matching shoes and a playful headband, which gives her a whimsical touch, showing that she’s in the midst of her carefree childhood years. We even added a small, stuffed animal as an accessory to highlight her vulnerability and emotional connection to the babysitter.

Each character’s costume is designed not only to reflect their individual personalities but also to create a visual contrast between them. Riley’s soft, warm colors will stand out next to Amane’s dark, ominous tones, while Lara’s vibrant and playful look brings a sense of innocence to the story. We’re excited to see how these carefully selected costumes will help bring the characters to life, enhancing the mood and emotional depth of the film. The costumes not only help define each character but also add to the atmosphere, drawing the audience deeper into the story. We believe these looks will leave a lasting impression, making each character memorable in their own unique way.
