Here's the Script!

 IN EMMA'S BEDROOM - AFTERNOON 

EMMA, LILY, SARA, and OLIVIA sit on bed. The girls are dressed in swimsuits, discussing their later plans.  

EMMA (energetic)  

I'm so excited to go to the beach! I hope the waters warm. 

LILY (agrees) 

 Me too! Remember how cold the water was last time? 

SARA (laughing) 

 Oh, my goodness, it was so bad! Liv almost got frostbite! 

OLIVIA (smiling) 

 Don’t be dramatic, thank goodness for the hot coco. 

CUT TO: 

BEACH ROAD- LATER 

The ocean shines under the sun as the girls walk down the beach, laughing. 

SARA (smiling)  

This is exactly what we needed after all the stress. 

OLIVIA (agrees)  

For sure. It is nice to just chill. I am so tired of schoolwork. 

SARA (annoyed) 

 Yeah right, you literally have such good grades. School is so easy for you. 

OLIVIA (defensive)  

Um, sorry? Do you know how hard I work to get those grades? 

SARA (annoyed)  

Geez don't be so dramatic. It was just a joke. 

As the conversation unfolds, hidden tensions start to surface. 

LILY (slightly hesitant) 

 Guys, there's something I've been meaning to talk about. 

EMMA (raising an eyebrow)  

What's up, Lily? 

CUE TENSE MUSIC 

Lily hesitates but then opens up about her feelings 

LILY (nervous) 

 I overheard something today... about us. People talking. 

The girls exchange concerned glances. 

SARA (nervously)  

What were they saying? 

LILY (upset) 

 I heard people saying that we were toxic and that our friendships are bad for us. 

EMMA (angry)  

Who cares what they think? It's none of their business. 

LILY (explaining)  

Well I kinda agree with them. Sara attacked Liv earlier. Like what was that about? 

SARA (concerned) It was just a joke. We need to stick together, no matter what. 

RESTURANT - LATER 

CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC 

SARA (teary-eyed)  

I thought we were better than this. 

EMMA (standing up)  

We are! We can't let gossip break us. 

LILY (strong)  

Well maybe if you hadn't gossiped, we wouldn't be in this situation. 

EMMA (confused and upset)  

You're really going to believe Olivia and her lies over me? I have known you for 9 year! 

LILY (upset)  

Yeah, because she has always listened to me and been a good friend to me. Unlike you. 

EMMA (crying) 

 Fine. If that's how it's going to be, okay. 

CUT TO: 

OCEAN – LATER 

Emma stands on the shore, looking at the water. 

EMMA (firmly)  

After that long she really would believe her over me. Maybe I had said that, but still. I can’t believe Lily thinks I’m a bad friend! 

Enter, SARA 

EMMA (angry) 

 Not you! How did the others even find out? I cannot believe you told them what I said! 

SARA (genuine) I didn't mean to say anything, it kind of slipped out. I don't want to be the reason our friendship is over! 

EMMA (upset)  

Neither do I, but I am so mad right now. If I saw Lily or Liv, I don't know what I would do. 

Enter, LILY and OLIVIA. LILY is crying while OLIVIA comforts her. 

LILY (crying)  

Emma! Can we talk please? 

EMMA (angry)  

Are you serious? Please get away from me! 

OLIVIA (genuine)  

Please just listen!  

EMMA (angry)  

I know you're not talking to me right now. 

EMMA runs to the ocean diving in. She needed to clear her mind. 

CUT TO: 

BEACH - NIGHT 

SARA, LILY, and OLIVIA sit up towards the beach. 

SARA (genuine) 

 You need to apologize, she's super upset. 

LILY (confused)  

She talked bad about me? And I’m supposed to apologize? 

SARA (reasonable)  

You know better than any of us she has her moments. I know we can work through this. 

OLIVIA (agreeing) 

 Yeah, you weren't in the wrong, but the only way to fix this is to get her to talk. After things are less intense, we can sort things out. 

CUE UPLIFTING MUSIC 

LILY agrees and walks down the shore towards EMMA 

CUT TO: 

OCEAN – AFTER 

LILY is on the shore, upset. EMMA is in the water staring towards the horizon. 

LILY (sympathetic)  

Hey Em? I want to apologize 

EMMA (annoyed) 

 Please leave me alone 

CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC 

LILY (scared) 

 Wait! Emma turn around! 

EMMA (confused)  

What? Please don’t joke around 

A dark fin is seen gliding towards Emma 

LILY (scared)  

Help! Someone!
